Avatar inspires professional make-up artist Tom Pecheux Avatar seemed to be an inspiration for professional make-up artist Tom Pecheux as he worked on the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture spring/summer 2010 show.

Mr Pecheux used blues, greens, yellows and purples on both eyes and lips to create the spaced out look which was influenced by James Cameron's record-breaking 3D movie.

He created a bug-like look with the incandescent colours, while lips had a metallic sheen as well, continuing the supernatural theme.

"It's a full-on fantasy," Mr Pecheux told WWD.com.

Professional hair stylist Odile Gilbert also went for an otherworldly look with intricate updos featuring plaits and braids of varying widths.

Amazonian tattoos and tropical motifs also featured in the extravagant show in Paris.

Bright colours were a feature of John Galliano's collection for the Christian Dior Paris Haute Couture week show, with pale complexions, blood-red lips and iridescent eyes complementing the Equestrian theme.

Greens, blues, lilacs and smoky greys all featured on the eyelids of the Dior models, clashing with the bold hues of the designs.
