Burberry to launch make-up range
Burberry to launch make-up range British fashion house Burberry is to launch its own 96-piece make-up range from July this year.

Christopher Bailey, chief executive of the label, said that the decision to introduce a cosmetics line was made after professional make-up artists working on Burberry catwalk shows were struggling to get the right attitude.

He told WWD.com that while the shoes, bags, clothes and accessories all epitomised the Burberry brand, the face didn't.

"It was either caked-on make-up or then just the wrong colours, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for make-up. I wanted it to be this kind of effortless elegance," he explained to the website.

The cosmetics range draws inspiration from Burberry's iconic piece, the trench coat, in that it can be worn "anywhere and at any time", Mr Bailey said.

Meanwhile, professional make-up artist Daniel Sandler has been giving a helping hand to those just starting out in the business, offering a 20 per cent discount of his cosmetics range.
