Makeup artists may be interested to hear colour palettes are set to see "clashing colours, metallics and bright purples and pinks" make a return.
This is according to freelance beauty editor of Kissandmakeup.tv Zara Stone Rabinowicz, who explained how 2012 is set to feature a "wide colour spectrum".
She claimed the vibrant shades will be particularly popular on the eyes and lips, with examples displayed on the Galliano, Dior and Betsey Johnson catwalks.
Another key trend is the return of smoky eyes featuring a hint of metallic, it was suggested.
Ms Rabinowicz explained how gold and silver eye pencils can help introduce some sparkle without being too strong for a daytime look.
To tone down metallics, the expert recommended using taupe shadow and brown eyeliner.
According to makeup artist Jules Cardozo-Marsh, next season will see lashes become a "huge focus" in the beauty industry, with "flirty and feminine" styles a key trend.
