The latest trend for professional make-up artists to master is the 'summer smoky eye', a look which was taken on by some of the biggest stars at last night's CFDA Fashion Awards in New York.
Stylelist's Laura Kenny also noted how stars such as Alexa Chung and Carmen Kass opted for the eternal favourite – the barefaced look - but smoky eyes stole the show.
"Those who did decide to delve into their makeup bags ignored their lips, favouring instead a look that we've deemed, as of this morning, the summer smoky eye," she mused.
She explained that the look comprised of blended eyeliner paired with eye-colour-enhancing shadow hues for a gaze that's smouldering without looking too made up, and went on to say the look was as cool as the crisp summer evening.
The style works wonders with pale eyes, as Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow proved, particularly with greens surrounded by brown liner, though Fashion Icon winner Iman's eyes also looked sparkling.
