Makeup artists looking for tips on how to create the perfect pout may want to take one expert's advice.
Beauty journalist and creator of goodthingsbeauty.com Alice Hart-Davis described how there are a few rules to follow when selecting the right shade of lipstick.
It was suggested "trial and error" is the easiest way to establish what suits skin tones, but the general understanding is that those with a cool pallor should opt for pink and peachy colours.
Meanwhile, "rosy browns" are best for ladies with warm skin tones, with bright red shades an option for daring women, she added.
Ms Hart-Davis recommended using lip liner when a strong, defined pout is required and she noted using the product to shade in the lips helps to make the contrast less noticeable as the lipstick wears off.
It was recently claimed by beauty editor at KissandMakeu.tv Zara Rabinowicz that the easiest way to transform an outfit from day to night is to add lipstick.
