Hair is "all about texture" this season as women follow the beauty trends that were seen on the catwalks, according to a professional hair stylist.
Akin Konizi, international creative director of Hob salons, told the Metro newspaper that layering would be important this spring, whether a cut is long or short.
"Working with texture will add softness to shorter styles as seen on the likes of An Education actress Carey Mulligan," he said.
Mr Konizi, who was British Hairdresser of the Year in 2008 and 2009, also told the newspaper that using texture is "an effective solution for growing out last season's crops".
The style is playful and delicate, with a self-styled feel, the professional hair stylist said. Side-swept, brow-length fringes will also be on-trend.
Professional hair stylist Graham Ross has told The Olympian that on-trend styles this season will feature lots of chopped-out layers, although they will remain soft and sexy.
