Professional hair stylists have brought buns back in to fashion via the spring/summer 2010 shows.
Updos were seen on plenty of catwalks through the course of the fashion weeks in London, New York, Paris and Milan, and now look set to be a top trend for the year.
Professional hair stylist Guido Palau was inspired by dancer's buns to create perfectly-centred updos for Marc Jacobs models that were pulled taut and given a high sheen, according to Elle.
The Dolce and Gabbana show featured a more dishevelled version of the bun, with loose, wispy updos which were embellished with gold slides.
Professional hair stylist Syd Hayes went for another take on the do at Versus, the magazine said, with the locks looped into flattened half-buns.
Another trend for 2010 is care-free curls. Professional hair stylist Indira Schauwecker predicted that women would embrace natural textures this year, with locks looking wind-swept.
