Professional hair stylists: Hair-dos just got slicker
Professional hair stylists: Hair-dos just got slicker Models at the Milan Fashion Week debuted slicker than usual hair, professional hair stylists will be interested to learn.

The New York Times has told professional hairstylists of the trend towards tight, controlled buns at the Italian fashion show.

Linda Wells, of Allure magazine, said: "It's a way of exerting control. We're not in a free and easy time right now, and this is not a carefree look. I think it's more like armour."

At the Prada spring/summer 2011 show, one model wore her hair parted at the side and swept tightly across her head, before twisting into a bun at the nape of her neck. The hair framing her face was gently waved in a style reminiscent of the 1920s.

Vogue.com has suggested that the move towards slicker hair styles could be a deliberate move away from the more voluminous styles showcased on the catwalks of London and New York.
