Professional make-up artists favour palettes of taupe and beige Professional make-up artists favoured palettes of taupes, beiges and sands at the New York and London Fashion Weeks as neutral tones took over.

Jessica Hogan, writing for Vogue magazine, pointed to the fact that washes of minks, taupes, beiges and sands were seen on both the eyes and cheeks of models working the catwalks in the two cities.

Professional make-up artists working on the Erdem, Osman, Jaeger, and Pringle of Scotland collections all used neutral shades, while there was a dark, gothic lip thrown into the Antonio Berardi show.

"All used little or no mascara to push a semblance of androgyny," Ms Hogan commented. "Hair is luxe in texture and quality but kept very simple in masculine way."

Neutral was not the only shade at the shows. Professional Pat McGrath, global creative design director for Max Factor, worked on the Issa collection and told The Sun that Jackie Onassis was the inspiration for the statement lips and bold brows she created.
