Elleuk.com has offered a tip to professional make-up artists – emphasise clients' lips with statement lipstick during autumn.
A host of celebrities, including Brit Anna Friel, Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester and An Education actress Carey Mulligan, have recently been spotted sporting coloured lips.
Stars have shown that the look works equally well with dark or blonde hair.
Anna Friel's berry lipstick brought out the dark blusher on her cheeks and complemented her dark brown locks. Leighton Meester went for a similar shade and paired it with muted make-up that didn't distract from her glossy lips.
In the blonde corner, Carey Mulligan made a statement with bright red lipstick and a cropped do. Pixie Lott's bright red lips also went well with her blonde hair, while Blake Lively wore a red dress to match her lips.
According to Elle, professional make-up artists should apply several layers of lipstick to a client's lips and blot in between to make it last longer. Lips will also be in better condition if they are buffed with an old toothbrush regularly.
