Purple reigns in fashion and beauty
Purple reigns in fashion and beauty Purple is known as a regal colour and it is certainly reigning over the fashion world at the moment, with professional make-up artists, designers and perfumers all adopting the shade.

The likes of Versace and Dior brought lilacs to clothing in their spring/summer shows, which featured amethyst gowns, and make-up has also followed the fashion.

Vogue magazine reported back in February that purples and lilacs were among the top colours of the season, with models sporting lavender eyes on the catwalks.

Professional make-up artist Pat McGrath went for this style for Versace, applying violet shadow all over the eye and keeping the rest of the face bronzed but natural.

Now, purple is spilling over into other areas of the beauty world, according to the magazine.

"Seldom has the synergy between fashion and fragrance been as strong as it is this spring/summer, thanks to a new trend in both arenas for the colour purple," said Jessica Hogan, writing for the publication.

Purple bottles are being used for scents, like Stella McCartney's Sheer and Prada's Infusion de Tuberose.
