Red lip trend confirmed for professional make-up artists
Red lip trend confirmed for professional make-up artists No doubt every professional make-up artist out there is aware of the trend, but Selfridges has confirmed that sales of red lipstick have risen over the last year.

The department store revealed to Marie Claire that 35 per cent more rouge lipsticks flew off the shelves in the last 12 months.

It most likely comes as no surprise to professional make-up artists since plenty of celebrities have been sporting scarlet pouts recently, while catwalk shows have been littered with red lips.

David Walker-Smith, beauty director for Selfridges, told the magazine: "Red lipsticks are on the up because women want to feel sexy. It instantly changes your appearance, boosts, morale and sexuality."

Chanel's Passion shade from the Allure collection was the top selling lipstick, followed by YSL's Rouge Volupte 17 Red Muse and Dior's Serum Rouge in Crimson.

Christian Dior's show at Paris Haute Couture Week featured models with dramatic red lips which were combined with bright colours for the eyes.
