It is a challenge for the professional hair stylist at the moment - creating voluminous styles without the help of wefts and extensions.
"Ever since Cheryl Cole removed her hair extensions because of the uproar her L'Oreal advert
it just doesn't seem cool to fake full hair with fake hair," writes Amy Lawrenson for Elle magazine.
So the professional hair stylist not only has to find products which lift and volumise the hair when styling, but also inject body into it at the preparation stage, when shampooing and conditioning.
Elle magazine has picked out some of the best products that the professional hair stylist has at his/her disposal to give tresses a boost.
It recommended Aveda's Pure Abundance range, Redken's Body Full products, Shu Uemura's Muroto Volume Amplifying shampoos and condition and Frederic Fekkai's Full Volume, among others.
Of course, whatever Cheryl Cole does with her hair seems to be copied by stylists and the general public alike, as Jules Holland, creative director at Mark Hill Salon, recently pointed out.
